Product benefits

Refuge chamber
When escaping from a hazardous area, a person may tire and require and area to rest and recuperate to continue the escape. A refuge chamber that is activated via an alarm schedule during an emergency, can serve as an intermediate station for escapees for up to eight hours. In addition to communication facilities the affected individuals – if the chamber is suitably configured – also have access to protective equipment to allow them to continue.
Rescue chamber
If the escape route during an emergency is too long or even cut off, a rescue chamber provides protection for the affected individuals until external rescue workers reach them. This can be up to 48 hours. The available air will be regenerated.

Safety and Rescue in mining and tunnel construction

Even today, mining and tunnel construction are still filled with dangers for those working underground. Complying with legal guidelines, regulations and standards alone is no guarantee of safety. Risks can only be detected early on, systematically reduced and eliminated if the building contractor operates an allencompassing system of risk management.

Brochure Refuge Chamber (PDF)

Tunnel construction personnel face serious risks in their work underground. Building sites which are a long way into the tunnel and branch out in different directions mean that it is virtually impossible to escape through the smoke-filled tunnel in the event of a fire.
